Cedar Mountain Adventure

On the 13th of this month we headed for Cedar Mountain for the Bow Hunt and some camping fun. We left our house around 4:30 pm. Robert drove the RV and I drove the truck. Just before we pulled into Cedar City the front left tire blew up and Robert was able to get it off the road to an empty lot. I took the spare tire (that was not a good one) to Walmart to see if they could give me a new tire, of course they dont carry RV tires. So by this point its about 6:00PM and no one is open. I was able to find one place that just happened to have a ton of the kind of tire we needed. I drove back over to were Robert was and had him take the spare over there while I stayed with the kids and RV. Its a good thing he went cause it took two of them just to get the tire on the rim! By the time he made it back to us and we finally got back on the road it was 9:00 PM. Once we made it to Websters Flat and found a good spot we had to level the RV out in the dark HAHA! We went ahead and set all of our camp up that night. We ate dinner in Cedar so I didnt have to cook dinner thank goodness. We got a fire going and then just sat around and relaxed for a few hours before heading to bed. The next morning when we got up there were sheep every were!! Robert got the morning fire going and I cooked breakfast for everyone. After breakfast Robert went out scouting for deer while the rest of us spent the morning in camp. The kids had so much fun trying to catch the sheep. Mike would climb up in a tree and make a noise like sheep to distract them for Taylor so he could get close to them. When Robert got back to camp we laid down for a nap with Carson. Taylor, Mike and Colten all stayed up and played.

Later that night when we went to cook dinner I realized I forgot the Hamburger and BBQ sauce at home in the fridge. URRG!! So we had dutch oven potatoes and Ribs with out BBQ. I am such a dork. I did remember the stuff for smores!
The boys did alot of carving of spears and knifes when they were not chasing the sheep. Taylor decided to put himself in charge of the fire so we had lots of smoke!!!

Saturday Morning was the opening for the Bow Hunt. Robert got up before the sun and had me drive him to a his spot and then he would just walk back to camp. He saw one good deer but it saw him to! He got back to camp by 10 am. He was dressed all in camo so he snuck up on the sheep and the kids. It was funny. We ate luch and took another nap. Later that afternoon while Robert was still sleeping with Carson me and the other boys went on a hike. The boys found a log they could slide down. Mike sat to far back and fell off. We say a woodchuck and had a squirrel chatter at us. I let Mike find our way back to camp, he did pretty good we weren't to far off. When we got back to camp we started dinner so we could go back out hunting. Robert did the dutch oven potatoes for me so I took lots of pictures of momentus occasion! Since we didn't have any Hamburger we roasted Hot Dogs with the potatoes. It was really GOOD!! Taylor and Mike rode in the back of the truck and we headed out. We got on this one road that was not a road after awhile. I am pretty good at driving on boulders HAHA! We saw one deer worth shooting but Carson decided that would be a good time to start screaming. Once back at camp we built a fire and were just getting settled in for the evening when Mike asked, " What is that black thing?" He asked this a few time before we saw what he was talking about. None of us moved when Robert got up to go get a flash light out of the RV. Robert realized this and turned around and said " Dont just sit there get in here until I find out what it is"! Thats when all hell broke loose. Taylor and Mike RAN for the RV! Chairs went flying and pop and chips got spilt. Colten was trying to get past everyone and kept falling down. I was trying to grab Carson while not burning us with my hot coffee I had just made. Robert was already in the RV getting a flashlight to find out what was moving through our camp. By the time I made it to the RV I couldnt get in and Robert couldnt get out all the kids were standing in the doorway trying to see this black thing. I was laughing so hard I could barely walk. We never saw what it was just the direction it went in. Once it was gone we all went and sat back by the fire for the rest of the evening. This was the funnest night of all the nights up there. Robert went ahead and built a huge fire after that. Well the next morning when we got up there was a black DOG walking through our camp. We figured this is what we say that night. Well Sunday morning came and we all got up cleaned up our camp site and ate a huge breakfast and were home by about one. It is always an adventure with our family never a dull moment. I hope you enjoyed reading about it. Until my next post!

These are Pictures from our hike.

My wonderful hand injury

Ok so some of you know about this due to face book. So i thought I would do a post on in and tell the whole story. This first picture is of my hand right after I got home from the Docs. It is so swollen I couldnt get my rings back on for a week. Ok so the story begins with me mowing the the lawn. I had the front yard all done and had moved to the back yard. I did a walk through and picked every thing up, so I thought. About 1/3 of the way the bag started to drop clippings every were. I had just emptied it so I open the cover, with the mower running, moved just the top part of the grass and found that I had run over a wire at some point. I guess when I moved that grass it loosened the wire. I don't remember much other than I heard the noise and felt the most sharp shooting pain I had ever felt in my hand. I closed my hand so fast and then looked down at it, there was blood every were!! I went to the back door but it was locked so I calmly (Really) Walked over to Carson, cause he was in back with me, picked him up and walked to the front door. Luckily Robert is working nights right now so he was home with the truck. I woke him up and told him he needed to watch the kids so I could go to the clinic. He asked why and I showed him. He said he would drive me but it was just easier to go alone. When I got there they took me right back cause I had blood all over me. I was taken to the back room for emergencies and sat on the ambulance bed. Then they shut the doors and left. The doctor had just got back from luch cause I watched him pull in. He walked in and right past me as he said, HI how are you? Um OK is what I was thinking I have blood all over and I'm holding my hand?????? He walked on by and out the door. He then walked back through and just smiled at me. Finally he came in and said I guess I'm helping you! Well I hope so I said! No nurse just him. He put on his gloves and looked at my finger. He had me walk over to the sink to rinse it out. He put soap in my hand and had me scrub my own wound. He told me I needed to work up to my elbow and then dry it off. I did not know I was a nurse! I then went and sat back down. He put on gloves and not once did he wash his hands mind you. Once his gloves were on he went to the door and opened it looked for someone shut the door and came back to my hand. He then went to the cupboard were they keep all their prepacked equipment. With his now unclean gloves he grabbed all he needed and then changed gloves. Once in a while a nurse would come in put her gloves on and then fold her arm, Um what was the point of the gloves?????????? Finally I got all numbed up and the stitches began. I had two really deep ones to stop the bleeding which did not work cause I had cut some blood vessels. After awhile it finally stopped and he was able to put in the next 5or6 surface stitches. They are individual ones not a running stitch. The last two I was not numb for and they stung a little. He also had to redo one of the stitches. I have a little nerve damage and stiffness in my finger. It is going to be one ugly scar!!!

These were taken just the other day. I still have a braise on so I cant move my finger but I took it off so I could get these pics. These pics make it look good!! I go to the doctors on Friday to see how it is doing so hopefully it is healing good. He will do more tests to see how bad any of the nerve damage is. No tendons were cut but it did go almost to the bone. There was no bruising just alot of swelling and pain!! Yes I learned my lesson and will always shut off the mower!!
I do have to say its amazing how much you use your pinkie fingers!! I am typing this one handed cause I cant use my left hand very well. I have also discover even though I am right handed I use my left hand more. I am glad to still have a pinkie and that it wasn't as bad as it could have been. There is always a bright side to something bad!

Family Reunion 2009

Well we had our annual Hunt Family Reunion and it was just as fun as ever. This year we had it up on the Kaibab, which is in Arizona. Robert and I decided to take the new RV, the tent trailer for my sis and the horses. I drove the RV and Tent trailer while Robert had the truck and horse trailer. We left Friday afternoon for the three hour drive. On the way was a adventure in its self!! Robert blew a tire about two miles outside of cedar. I overheated in the RV and waited for Robert at the tourqorville exit for almost a hour, not knowing he had a flat. I finally decided to try and find him. If I had only waited 10 more minutes He would have shown up. We finally found each other and headed out again. It was 112* outside and I was driving with the heater on the whole way!!! I had Taylor putting Ice in rags and on my feet and neck. We drank all of our water before we even made to the mountains LOL!! When we did make it I went to turn on the road were everyone was at and drug the tent trailer into the ground. Luckily my Dad happened to be right behind me (which I did not know) and dug me out. Once I was out the RV died and did not restart again for almost 20 mins. So my mom and I hung out in the middle of the road just chatting, what else were we to do ? I finally made it to camp and got everything set up and it was time to relax!!! We all sat around the bomb fire , it had to be big enough for us all to fit. All the kids had green glow stick so the forest was very well lite up and no one had to wonder were their kids were. I think we all went to bed around 11:00 it had been along day. Saturday we did a huge pot luck and played lots of fun games. Taylor built a lean-to for a scout badge and slept in it all alone all night. I think there was like fifteen dogs running around so there was nothing to worry about. I woke him up bright and early so I could get a picture of him inside of it.
We Got My brother -in- law BJ to try and go for a horse back ride with Robert but he got bucked off the horse. So we put him on my horse and he couldnt get his dirt bike boots into the stirrups so he was done LOL. Robert and I went ahead and went for a ride. while on our ride both my front and back cinches broke while running up a hill!!! To say the least I did not make it to the top with my horse LOL!!! I went flying off with the saddle. I hit the ground so hard it knocked the air right out of me! Yes It hurt ALOT!! We were able to fix the saddle and continue on our ride. It was so pretty and alot of fun. Later that evening we took the kids for little rides and they loved it. Some of my cousins kids wanted to sit on our horses so we let them. My nephew couldnt stop talking about it for the rest of the day.

This set of pictures is of the whole camp which I still did not get it all in it. We camped on the other side of the road cause of the horse. I took A long distance shot of our set up. Well the adventure is still not over. We packed up early Sunday morning and headed for home. On our way My sis Realene and her hubby BJ had a blow out on their trailer so they had to pull over and fix it while I went on ahead to my Moms house. we decided to leave the RV and tent trailer there and come back the next weekend to fix it. While there Taylor and Mike decided they wanted to stay for the week. So we unloaded all of there stuff and then headed for home. We decided to go up over Cedar Mountain and it was so nice. We stopped at Navajo lake and walked the horses down to the waters edge. They ate and drank for awhile and then we were off again. We got about two miles outside of Cedar and blew another tire on the same side of the horse trailer as earlier. The first one was the rear tire and then it was the front. Being Sunday no one was open!! We dropped the trailer and horses with me and the kids at the auction yard while Robert went to find a tire. The whole time he was gone it sprinkled but it was nice and cool. The horses were in a pin so I feed and watered them while I waited. Robert got back but had no tire so we dropped the spare off the truck and luckily it fit. Of course once we started to change the tire it began to down poor!! Just our luck right I wouldn't expect anything less LOL. We FINALLY made it home at like nine that night. Unloaded the horses and just went to bed and did the rest in the morning. Well that's about it I hope you enjoyed our adventure cause we did and now we can just sit back and laugh about it all. It also makes for a great story.

Roberts Trip to Oregon

Over the fourth of July Robert went to Oregon to pick up a RV that had belonged to his grandmother. This was a crazy weekend for me and him. I had to drive him to the Vegas Airport. This was the first time I had ever driven in Vegas so this was very nerve racking for me. I got him there just fine, my knuckles were a little white LOL. While I was there I was picking up my boys from my ex, so I had him met me at the Airport. Thank goodness cause he helped get me out of vegas and on the road to home. Thank you Brian!!! Anyway Roberts flight left on time but he had a hour lay over in SLC, stupid I know. He got to Oregon just fine anyway. His little sister was suppose to pick him up but she could not find him. He waited for two hours and then just took a cab to his Dads house. He spent a few days with his Dad before he drove the 17 hours home. The one picture is of a logging company from a show we watch so he had to get a picture. If you can read his shirt its really funny. The rest of the pictures are of his Dads place and his two little dogs. He had a lot of fun with his Dad and seeing his sister who he doesn't see that often. He left Saturday afternoon and made it home at three on Sunday. He was so tired and glad to be home. We were glad to have him back!! The kids were so excited to see the RV they were more excited then on Christmas Morning. They couldnt wait to take it for a drive.

Fourth of July

Well its about time I update this thing LOL! This was our very own celebration at home. Robert was in Oregon and so we just let of fireworks in the driveway. Carson, being only 2 1/2, did not know what to think of them. At first he was scared but then he warmed up to them. I could not get him to let go of my leg for the first few. The last one we set of was huge and surprised everyone. Carson ran in the house crying but the other boys loved it and wanted more!! It was a lot of fun. After the fireworks we went to the back yard where I built a fire so they could roast marshmallows. I love having a fire pit in my yard. They got all sticky but had a blast. They ran around for hours just playing while I chilled by the fire. It was a great night .

Family Trip to Salt Lake City

This was a unexpected trip to SLC. This trip came about when Roberts Dad called on Thurs the 18, which was Roberts Birthday. Anyway Roberts Dad wanted us to come up and visit him and Roberts Grandpa. Bruce (Roberts Dad) lives in Oregon so we don't ever see him. Bruce had never seen Carson and has only seen Colten a few times so this was nice to be able to let him spend some time with the grand kids. I wasn't going to go because it was going to cost more for us all to go but then I just said to hell with it I want to have some fun!! We arrived Saturday afternoon at Roberts brother Richards house. Robert took a little nap and then we left to go check into a Motel. Colten was so excited cause he has never stayed in a Motel or Hotel. Colten was so excited cause it was a vacation to him LOL!! He was a little upset it did not have a pool but he was ok with it. After checking in we left to go to Uncle Brent's house up in the Foothills. What a beautiful home WOW! The kids had so much fun running around and playing with all their cousins. We had a BBQ, which was really good I ate way to much food. After dinner we all went down stairs and played pool and shuffle board. It was so good to met some more of Roberts family and get to know them a little bit better. It was a wonderful night and so much fun! Later that evening before it got dark Robert took me and the boys for a drive up Big cotton wood canyon. It was so gorgeous and green. Roberts brother Branden went with us so they talked hunting the whole time. On our way back down we ran into a moose on the side of the road just casually walking with traffic. I tried to take a picture but it is really dark so look close when you get to that one. That was the first moose the boys have ever seen they were so excited about it. Colten kept saying we can shoot it, lets shoot it!! He is such a hunter he cracks me up. We went back to Brent's house and visited some more and then head for our Motel for bed! The next day was Fathers Day and I had bought some cards for Robert. The kids and I got up earlier than he did and so we signed our cards and then woke him up with lots of hugs and kisses. He couldn't help but smile! We then we pack up and headed out for the day. Our first stop was Hogle Zoo. It had rained that morning and the wind was blowing like crazy. Robert and Colten were the only ones who had jackets so we had to buy me and Carson a sweater at the gift shop. Fifty dollars later we were all warm. The animals were so active and lively so the weather was worth it. We spent about four hours at the Zoo. We then went and ate at the Macaroni Grill, thank goodness for gift cards. It was really good food and the kids were so well mannered. Carson would take a bit of his macaroni and then wipe his mouth with his napkin he was such a gentlemen. After lunch we went Back to Uncle Brent's to say good bye to everyone but no one was there so we headed for home. It was such a wonderful trip even if it was a short one. I needed it and it was good to finally get out of my house and just enjoy life. It was such a wonderful and different Fathers Day for Robert and I hope we can have more like it in the future.

**My New Horse**

Well I finally got my Buckskin Horse Hurray!! I am so excited about her. I have wanted a Buckskin ever since I can remember. They are so hard to find and when you find one they are so expensive. With the horse market now days and the economy the way it is horses are dirt cheap so that is how I got mine. We found her on the KSL classifieds about a week ago. She is two years old and the sweetest little thing ever. She has never been broke so we are in the process of doing that, Again. The first night we got her home we were on her and riding. I will be riding her out on the trail with in the week, I can not wait. She loves the kids and people in general. Her main and tail are black with silver in it. I can not tell you how much I love this horse!! The boys cant wait for their turn to get on her and ride. I think they love her as much as I do. She is so quite and still, I cant believe how good and calm she is for never being broke. Anyway here are a few pictures of her and you will see why I think she is so beautiful. Oh ya her name is Porsche, Which I'm not sure I like so if any one can think of a different name please let me know.
